People with developmental disabilities must have the opportunities to make their voices heard on issues that are important to them, be able to defend and safeguard their rights, and have their views and wishes genuinely considered when decisions are being made that affect their lives.
The rights of individuals with disabilities to participate equally in all facets of life within the United States are protected through a series of important laws.

Disability Rights
DRO is Oregon's designated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) System. DRO works to uphold the legal rights of people with disabilities in Oregon across the age span by promoting Opportunity, Access and Choice for individuals with disabilities. DRO also provides assistance to families and individuals with disabilities who are facing legal problems directly related to disabilities.
Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities
OCDD's mission is to advance social and policy change so that people with developmental disabilities, their families, and communities can live, work, play, and learn together. Their vision is that all communities welcome and value people with disabilities and their families.
