Promoting self-advocacy skills is central to the CAC's work in improving the lives of Oregonians with disabilities. Our current innovative project, “Expanding Access and Accessibility for Self-Advocacy through a Universal Design for Learning Framework,” is designed to support CAC members to enhance their skills so they can share them with others. The development of this project was inclusively created in consultation with the CAC members.
This project supports our CAC members to:
- Create handouts and videos on specific self-advocacy topics and share them with the community through our website and community events.
- Access training to expand CAC members' skills related to advocacy, outreach, and impact to become more effective self-advocates and self-advocate leaders.
- Build connections with rural self-advocacy groups to enhance collaboration, improve advocacy and leadership skills, and broaden outreach efforts.
