Thank you for your interest in joining the Community Advocacy Council! CAC participation is an integral part of the UCEDD. The role of the CAC is one of advocacy by helping to ensure that people with disabilities have a voice in the actions of the UCEDD. Those who join can be individual members or members representing a local agency or organization. CAC members are awarded a stipend of $50 for attendance at each CAC meeting in appreciation of their time and efforts.
Applicants for membership must meet the following criteria:
- You experience developmental disability yourself, have a child who has a developmental disability, or are an advocate for people with developmental disabilities.
- You agree to make a good faith effort to attend meetings, either quarterly or monthly depending on your chosen level of involvement, which can be discussed with the CAC Liaison. Meetings are generally on Wednesdays at 3:30 in the Clinical Services Building at the University of Oregon.
- You are willing to contribute to the CAC by sharing your perspectives and ideas.
- You are open to the ideas of others and interested in working collaboratively.
If you meet the criteria and would like to explore membership, please contact Alexis Reed, CAC Liaison at 541-520-6241.
- You will meet with Alexis in person or by phone to learn more, confirm your interest, and have the opportunity to ask questions.
- Alexis will then invite you to attend a CAC meeting as a guest before being invited to apply for membership.
