Edane Chism is the Bethel Community Transition Network (BCTN) Teacher and Program Coordinator, a position she has held for 13 years. She supports students ages 18–21 who are earning certificates of achievement or modified diplomas, with an emphasis on functional academics, soft skills, social skills, and community integration. She coordinates job sites and schedules, connects students with agencies such as Lane County Developmental Disabilities and Social Security, and collaborates with job developers and support staff to provide meaningful community-based learning experiences.
She holds a Bachelor of Education in Family and Human Services and a Master’s degree in Special Education (Middle/Secondary), both from the University of Oregon, and brings nearly 25 years of experience in special education, including transition programs and life skills classrooms.
