Anders Pettersson

Anders Pettersson is originally from Sweden and has lived in the United States since 2004. He is married, has two children and a dog, and enjoys ice hockey, golf, and hiking in his free time.

Early in his career in Sweden, Anders worked as an educational assistant in special education classrooms, a child psychiatric clinic, and juvenile detention. After moving to the United States, he lived in Seattle and Minneapolis before relocating to Eugene, Oregon, where he earned a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Oregon.

Nate Emerson

Nate is a videographer and video editor on the autism spectrum who is passionate about helping other people with disabilities tell their stories. He currently works as a contractor for various organizations such as Cognitopia, Supported Living Learning and Earning with Autism (SLLEA) and the University of Oregon. His hope is to continue creating far into the future.

Toby Cole

Toby is currently a Family and Human Services major and a Disability Studies minor. They are currently interested in incorporating intersectional viewpoints into mental health and social services prevention. 

Christen Knowles

My research focuses on improving behavioral and social outcomes for children and youth experiencing disability, with an emphasis on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD). My current research focuses on paraeducator professional development, student-teacher relationships, special education teacher burnout, and promoting equity and inclusion for those with disabilities in school and community settings.

John Lind

Dr. Lind is a Research Associate. As a former special education teacher, Dr. Lind has extensive experience developing and implementing strength based interventions for youth with disabilities including adolescents with emotional and behavior disabilities.

More recently, he has worked as an educational consultant, providing training and technical assistance to national and state departments of education on issues related to IDEA, effective classroom management, and multi-tiered levels of support.

Christopher Murray

My research and teaching is focused on understanding factors and processes associated with positive adjustment and outcomes among students with disabilities who are exposed to high levels of stress. I am particularly interested in implementing and evaluating school-based programs/practices that enhance social supports and social relationships in the lives of students with disabilities from high-poverty backgrounds.

 

Elizabeth Altenburg

Elizabeth has been a special education teacher for eighteen years. Most of that time has been spent teaching in an elementary-level specialized classroom, followed by work in an adult transition program. She currently teaches in a specialized classroom for high school students at an online school.

Abby Sheppler

Abby collaborates closely with fellow TAP member Nate Emerson to co-develop lived experience videos that showcases the significance of the project and the meaningful contributions she brings to the work. Grounded in her own lived experience, she plays an active role in shaping the narrative, strengthening authenticity, and providing thoughtful, constructive feedback throughout the script development process.
