Elizabeth Altenburg

Elizabeth has been a special education teacher for eighteen years. Most of that time has been spent teaching in an elementary-level specialized classroom, followed by work in an adult transition program. She currently teaches in a specialized classroom for high school students at an online school.

Abby Sheppler

Abby collaborates closely with fellow TAP member Nate Emerson to co-develop lived experience videos that showcases the significance of the project and the meaningful contributions she brings to the work. Grounded in her own lived experience, she plays an active role in shaping the narrative, strengthening authenticity, and providing thoughtful, constructive feedback throughout the script development process.

Josh Barbour

Josh Barbour is a Transition Network Facilitator who serves 30 school districts in Linn, Benton, Lincoln and Lane counties in Oregon. Josh provides technical assistance and curricular supports, establishes relationships with school district and community partners and provides training and professional development. Josh is also one of the hosts of the Oregon Transition Podcast. Josh is employed by Linn Benton Lincoln ESD.

Andre Leon

As a former adult transition teacher, Andre focuses his research on building equitable supports for exceptional individuals as they navigate the path towards independence.

Gabe Coleman

Gabe Coleman is a second-year undergraduate student at the University of Oregon who's studying advertising and works as a videographer for the Center on Human Development.

Joe Basey

Joe joined because of his personal experience with disability and his desire to help others. He emphasizes that support should be individualized, as each person has unique needs.

Cailin Thompson

Cailin joined to help others better understand the differences between able‑bodied individuals and people with physical disabilities. She believes educators should never assume what someone can or cannot do, as even professionals often misjudge abilities.

Dawn Moreland

Dawn joined the team to help and educate others by sharing information. She believes strong support systems—such as job coordinators and coaches—are essential for helping individuals secure employment.
